Venue: Tower Hotel, Waterford

Meeting on motion for Green Party convention

We have decided to propose the motion That the Green Party supports the construction of several hydroelectric stations, similar to Turlough Hill, for the purposes of generation and storage of electricity, and the provision of some degree of flood protection for the Towns and Cities affected by the recent flooding.

Cork suffered particularly severely from the recent flooding. UCC was the worst affected third level institution in the country. Had there not been a dam at Inniscarra, the flooding would have been much worse. More dams and hydroelectric stations would help to prevent this type of flooding.

Having discussed the motion on Tuesday the 9th of March, we decided to continue discussing it at another meeting on Tuesday the 16th of March.

We discussed the motion, its concept and how we will propose it.

Time: Tuesday 16 March, 7pm
Venue: Guagán, on the top floor of the Student Centre
